Milestones

Despite the lack of goals this was an end-to-end thriller. Mike Noble almost scored for the home side in the first minute but his 10 yard shot came off the crossbar. County came close on 2 occasions in the early stages - Mark McRitchie saved well from Brian Grant and Sergei Baltacha brilliantly tackled Alan Duff on the 18 yard line.

On 30 minutes a 20 yard drive from Charlie Christie brought out a tremendous save from County's Don McMillan. Just before half time Bruce McCraw broke free from his marker but his 15 yard effort carried beyond the County post.

County should have broken the deadlock on the hour mark when they were awarded a penalty - Charlie Christie was adjudged to have brought down Gordon Connelly just inside the box. Justice was done when Andy MacLeod's penalty kick struck the post and the ball rebounded into the arms of a very relieved Mark McRitchie.

Caley Thistle had the better of the rest of the game but could not score - MacMillan, Andrew and Lisle all coming close. In the end a draw was a fair result.
