First Team Debuts

Milestones

A good performance and a well deserved win but St Mirren did not put up much of a fight.

The first chance came when Ross Tokely set up David Bingham but his shot was parried then caught by the on-form Craig Hinchcliffe. David Van Zanten tested Mark Brown in 11 minutes but the keeper touched his dipping shot over the bar. Paul Ritchie scored his seventh goal of the season in 21 minutes with a curling 12 yard shot following good work by Bingham. A David Proctor shot was turned for a corner in 35 minutes and from Roy McBain's kick Stuart McCaffrey headed goal number two, his second of the season.

Half Time: 2-0

Just after the break Barry Wilson tried to lob Hinchcliffe but the keeper managed to push his shot for a corner. Saints edged back into the game but could not break down the home defence. At the other end a Bingham header brought out a diving save from Hinchcliffe and Proctor lobbed over the bar.

Full Time 2-0

Caley Thistle finished September in a two way tie with Ross County at the top but second on goal difference.
