Milestones

A welcome return to winning ways in the league after a barren spell. Caley Thistle dominated throughout and took the lead in 17 minutes. A strong run from Steve Hislop created the chance for Stuart Golabek who scored from nearly 30 yards. In 37 minutes David Bingham slipped the ball to Richie Hart and he chipped beautifully into the top corner from 25 yards. In the second half Ayr could easily have been awarded a penalty when Stuart McGrady was seemingly fouled by Ross Tokely in the box in 53 minutes - the referee called a dive and the Ayr player was booked. Hislop clinched it with a third goal in 61 minutes after a long through ball from Barry Wilson. Hislop headed straight through the middle and shot past Ludo Roy from 12 yards. Stewart Kean came close to a consolation when he shot from 18 yards near the end but Mark Brown tipped it onto the bar to keep a clean sheet. The victory ensured a climb back up to fourth place.
