Caley Thistles youngsters put in a great performance to reach the semi-final of the North Cup. Countys liveliest player was Conor Gethins and he had a chance in 8 minutes Craig Young crossed from the left but the ball ran behind him. The only goal came in 18 minutes. Billy Sutherland worked hard on the left to reach the goal line then cut it back to David MacRae he sent a 20 yard low ball beyond the outstretched Andrew Shearer. Three minutes later Ally Ridgers made the first of a number of excellent saves when he tipped over a Gethins drive. On the half hour mark Bryan Gilfillan took the ball off the feet of Gethins then close to half time Gilfillan repeated the move when he robbed David Wilson in the box. Caley Thistle had to withstand constant pressure in the second half as County turned up the heat. In 49 minutes Darren Jack sent an overhead kick over the bar then on 60 minutes Jack headed past. Ridgers produced the save of the match in 69 minutes when he touched over a Gethins drive from 18 yards. The pattern continued with County pushing forward and the home defence performing heroics. With a minute of normal time left Gethins tried again but his 20 yard shot was deflected by Grant Munro for a corner. Injury time ran to four minutes and Niall Calder nearly made it 2-0 in the last seconds he was set up by Jamie Munro but his shot was saved.
