Clach were worthy winners of the North Cup but Caley Thistles youngsters put up a good fight. Clach dominated the first half with Neil McCuishs pace down the right wing setting up a number of chances for Jamie MacPherson. This combination created the first goal in 12 minutes when MacPherson headed Clach into the lead from a McCuish corner. Immediately afterwards Ally Ridgers made a superb save from a Dave Brennan header after a Colin Mitchell free kick. MacPherson came close with another header on the half hour mark and Iain Polworth fired over the bar from 10 yards just before the break. Caley Thistle made a comeback in the second half and Grant Munro nearly pulled one back with a 30 yard free kick. Clach hit back with a 25 yard McCraw drive which was saved by Ridgers. Neil MacDonald had a chance to equalise from the penalty spot after Martin Rae bundled Brian Gilfillan off the ball but Rae made a brilliant double save. With a minute left the destiny of the Cup was finally decided when Polworth netted after a chance set up by McCraw.
