Milestones
A tough end to end game with relegation the burning issue. Injuries reduced Steve Patersons options and Duncan Shearer made his second bench appearance of the season. Nacho Novo created two early chances which should have put Raith ahead. In the first minute he eluded two defenders on the edge of the box, slipped it left to Andy Smith in the clear but the striker missed it completely. In a similar move in 13 minutes Novo set up Hugh Davidson but he sliced the ball high and wide. At the other end Dennis Wyness hit low and wide in 18 minutes and this was the start of a good Caley Thistle spell. In 26 minutes Roy McBain ran from the left into the centre and shot over. A minute later Sammy Monin palmed away a Barry Robson cross from the left and it fell for Ross Tokely his ball into the area was blocked. The Raith defence blocked two more attempts before Robson shot high from long range in 34 minutes. Close to the break Robson looked set to cross from the left but instead he sent in an angled shot which went very close. Wyness then set up Martin Bavidge but his on-target drive was well stopped by Monin. Just on the whistle Tokely crossed from the right and a defenders foot sent the ball spinning over Monin and Wyness it was close to being an own goal but slipped past the post. Just into the second half a Robson run and shot was blocked then Raiths Darren Henderson shot low from the right but it flew past. On the hour mark a long Nicky Walker kick was headed by Bavidge to Wyness but his chip went close but past. Caley Thistle were hit by injuries when both Stuart Golabek and Charlie Christie limped off. Russell Duncan hit a Shaun Dennis shot off the line in 67 minutes then two minutes later a Henderson free kick went over the hands of Walker but Novo stabbed it past with the goal vacant. Novo was a constant danger and Bobby Mann made a fine saving tackle in 79 minutes. A Walker kick in 84 minutes set up a chance for Paul Ritchie after it was headed on by Neil MacDonald a defender slipped but Ritchies angled shot went past. With a minute left Neil MacDonald started a run from just inside his own half but was brought down by Greig McCulloch a second yellow and the defender was off. There was no time to take advantage and it ended 0-0. Not an ideal result for Caley Thistle but acceptable in view of the injury list. ICT stay fifth but only on goal difference and Raith remain at the foot of the table.
