First Team Debuts

Milestones

A narrow victory for Motherwell and a plucky performance from Caley Thistle. It could have been a different story if the home side had taken their chances but Motherwell were always sharp and should have scored a second goal close to the final whistle. Three minutes into the second half Motherwell scored what proved to be the winning goal as Pat Nevin sent over a high cross from the left and McCulloch touched it wide of Fridge. A minute into injury time it should have been 2-0. Stephen Halliday sped down the left with Nevin in support. Richard Hastings was the only defender and Halliday found Nevin on the edge of the area. Nevin could only manage to hit it low and past. The whistle went and Motherwell were through to the next round.
