Now in his second spell with the club. He had played 45 times before becoming Craig Brewster's first signing for Dundee United in 2006-07. Things didn’t work out at Tannadice once Brewster left and he went out on-loan to Airdrie United where he made 14 appearances in the second half of that season. With Craig Brewster reinstated as ICT manager David returned to the club and signed a two-year deal. Since then he has played exceptionally well and has played in a number of defensive positions.
A virtual ever-present in the side during Season 2008-09 after returning from injury and he was rewarded with a new one-year deal. Made his 100th app. for the club last season in the away match against Morton at Cappielow on 12th September and celebrated by scoring the third goal in a 3-0 win and he went on to play a significant part in Caley Thistle's title-winning run.
A very adaptable player who is as happy playing at right back, centre half or in midfield. Quick but also strong in the tackle, David is certainly enjoying his second spell with the club. He signed a new two-year contract during the close season. Has been out of the side for three months with a hamstring injury (October-December) but now back to full fitness and featuring in the squad.
Recently passed his UEFA B Coaching Badge.
