Charlie Christie captained Caley Thistle on his farewell appearance after ten years with the unified club.

Clach ‘keeper Ally Ridgers was under pressure from the second minute when he saved from Barry Wilson – he was to hold out until the 38th minute with saves from Liam Keogh, Grant Munro and Russell Duncan. He was finally beaten by Duncan who sent a spectacular shot into the top corner from 20 yards after a neat pass from Juanjo.

Ridgers pulled off the save of the match just before the break when he pushed over a Juanjo free kick. Ridgers touched a Wilson angled shot onto the bar in 55 minutes then caught it. It was 2-0 a minute later when substitutes Richie Hart and Steve Hislop combined – Hart sent in a low curling pass from the right and Hislop touched it first-time past Ridgers from six yards.

A Munro cut-back in 65 minutes led to Hislop scoring a carbon-copy of his first goal to make it 3-0. A Hislop chip in 75 minutes went in off defender Steve MacDonald then four minutes later a Wilson header from a Graham Bayne cross made it 5-0. The scoring was completed five minutes from time when Hart hit low past Ridgers from 15 yards – the ‘keeper got a touch but could not stop it.
