Robbo was a Hearts legend as a player and has pretty much the same status as an ICT manager having served two spells at the club and being forever embedded in club history as the man who led us to our first promotion to the Premiership in 2004.
Whilst playing for Livingston, Robertson became involved the coaching side of the game. He left the club in season 2002–03 to come to ICT where he guided us to the SPL for the first time in our history. He was very vocal in pushing both the club and the football authorities to change the 10,000 all-seater rule that would have prevented our elevation to the topflight but left the club in November 2004 to take up the vacant manager job at Hearts. His time at Hearts came to an abrupt end during the turbulent times that saw Vladimir Romanov take control of the club and he later managed Ross County, Livingston, Derry City and East Fife.
After 5 years out of football management he returned to the club for his second spell in June 2017. The aim is to get the club back up to the Premiership of course, and so far he has won the Challenge Cup in 2018 and qualified for the promotion playoffs the same year. In 2019, the club were sitting in second spot when the season was ended due to the Coronavirus and would have - at worst - qualified again for the playoffs.
In 2021, Robbo took a temporary leave of absence to deal with a family bereavement and Neil McCann took over.
