First Team Debuts

Milestones

An emphatic win but not a classic game. Livingston sacked manager Ray Stewart earlier in the week and the spirit of the team seemed to have left with him. Caley Thistle were well on top in the first half but they allowed Livvie back into the game in the second. After a rocky spell two further goals sealed the win. The first goal came in 11 minutes when an angled shot from Barry Wilson was only parried by Ian McCaldon and Davide Xausa tapped in from a yard out. In 32 minutes Dennis Wyness made it two when he neatly chipped over a defender and volleyed home from just inside the box. Brian McPhee pulled one back in 58 minutes after he beat three defenders on the left before hitting it past Les Fridge from 12 yards. Xausa scored his second in 69 minutes when he turned on the edge of the area and hit it low into the corner of the net. Graham Coughlan was sent off in 79 minutes for a foul on Xausa and he was led from the field protesting. This led to a stormy spell before Xausa completed his hat trick in 86 minutes - a low ball at an acute angle from the left side of the Livvie area. Two minutes from time Wyness was in on McCaldon but he hit it over the tall keeper and the bar. Livingston created very little and, apart from occasional flashes of skill from Brian McPhee, they looked a shadow of the team seen in the past.
