Former Inverness Thistle striker and goalkeeper. He made his debut on 14th January 1995. In 1994/95 was understudy to Mark McRitchie but took over Sep 1995. Fierce competition with Les Fridge from summer 1997 but first choice for most of 1997/98 and 1998/99. Fridge had the edge in 1999/2000 but Calder regained possession 2000/01. Final season mostly understudy to Nicky Walker. 63 consecutive games from 2 Sep 1995 to 18 Jan 1997. Testimonial match against Hibernian 9 Mar 1999. Players’ Player of the Year 1997/98; Supporters' Player of the Year 1995/96 & 1997/98. Matchday Programme Player of the Year 1995/96. Third Division Championship medal 1996/97. Final game 27 Apr 2002 and captain for the day. Oldest club player so far at 41 years 272 days. 14 penalty saves plus five in shoot-outs. To Strathspey Thistle July 2002. To Nairn County July 2004.

Jim made 195 appearances for the Caley Jags as a goalkeeper which included 48 shut-outs. Not bad for someone who started his career as a striker and played a Scottish Cup tie at Parkhead as a substitute striker for Inverness Thistle. A club legend for sure who had an incredible knack of saving penalties, approximately 50%.
