Inverness Caledonian Thistle are delighted to announce the signing of Australian defender Nikola Ujdur on a 2 year deal.
Nikola who also holds a Croatian passport has passed the SFA Tribunal Panel requirements and we also have International Transfer Clearance from FIFA for the player who is currently in Australia awaiting the completion of his UK work visa application, after which he will link up with the squad.
The defender, 24 years-old, joins us after playing his full career so far in Australia playing in the Youth A-League with Canberra United and playing in the National Premier League NSW with Northbridge, Sydney Olympic and, most recently, Rockdale Ilinden.
He made his debut in a 1-0 home defeat to Dundee United on September 23rd 2023. Having established himself in the team after being injured he seldom featured since Duncan Ferguson arrived making only 19 appearances, three from the bench. That seemed odd as he looked likely to be our best defender.
Having been largely ignored by the manager during our relegation from the Championship, Nikola finds himself still contracted to the club for this season in League 1. I'm sure he will be a massive player for us this season. If not, then that will be down to the manager.
Niko was finally officially transferred to Queens Park on 27th July 2024, a victim of circumstances despite being a brilliant player whenever he was allowed on the park for the Caley Jags.
Best of luck at Queens Park, I'm sure you will smash it.
