First Team Debuts

Milestones
Russell Duncan scored his first goal for the Club.

It took a while for the first goal to come but eventually Clyde caved in and Caley Thistle ran out easy winners. Dennis Wyness tested Kevin Budinackas in 9 minutes with a deep cross he punched it out then saved the follow up shot. Leigh Hinds tried a long range shot at the other end a minute later but Nicky Walker pushed it over. Martin Bavidge looked to have opened the scoring in 22 minutes when he ran in on the keeper after he was set up by a clever Wyness chip. The keeper hesitated and Bavidge knocked it past him only to see it edge past the post. The breakthrough came in 32 minutes when Robson passed inside from the left to Wyness just outside the box he took two steps to escape his marker then hammered it into the top corner. In 37 minutes a bad mistake by Andy Millen allowed Bavidge possession and he sent a back post cross from the right Paul Ritchie rose to meet it but could only head past. Five minutes later a Robson corner from the right was missed by Budinackas and Ritchies close range header made it 2-0 before half time. In the second half it was only a question of how many Clyde were never going to take anything from the game. Just three minutes into the half Bavidge made a fast run to the line, his cross eluded Pat Keogh and Wyness drove home from 8 yards. Bavidges efforts down the right earned the cheers of the crowd but he could still not make it onto the scoresheet. In 62 minutes he beat two men in the box but flicked it past the post. His moment came in 72 minutes when substitute Stuart Golabek crossed from the left wing and Bavidge scored with a powerful header. With two minutes left Nicky Walkers clean sheet was spoiled when he was adjudged to have brought down Hinds and Ritchie McCusker scored from the penalty spot. Caley Thistle ran upfield and scored a fifth with a minute left. Russell Duncan raced down the left before cutting it back to Ritchie his shot was saved by the keeper but came out to Duncan. His shot was also saved but not held and it trickled agonisingly over the line. It was a hard blow for Budinackas but it summed up Clydes afternoon.

None.
