Milestones

The Caley Thistle promotion machine moved into top gear with this demolition. The rout started in 10 minutes when McLean was brought down by thekeeper and Paul Sheerin hit home the penalty. Five minutes later Mark McCulloch made it 2-0. McLean cut it back from the bye line to the edge of the box and he drove the ball into the net. In 35 minutes Mike Teasdale and Charlie Christie combined to score a classic goal. Teasdale broke up an attack on the edge of his box, passed to Christie before racing upfield. Christie weaved into the Stirling half before passing to Teasdale who was now just outside the Stirling area. He turned the ball past Gow to make it 3-0. The second half was a minute old when Glancy made it 4-0. Sheerin took the ball down the left and turned towards goal as Hastings drew a defender. Sheerin found McLean and he sent it to Glancy who hit it into the roof of the net from 6 yards. It looked like 5 in 53 minutes when a McLean header towards the top corner brought out a good save from Gow. Glancy grabbed his own second goal in 68 minutes. He took it off Martin just outside the box and ran on to hit it past Gow for 5-0. Stirling pulled one back in 79 minutes. A dummy by Ally Graham allowed the ball to reach Chris Wood as he raced in from the left. Without breaking stride he struck it past Les Fridge. In the last minute a McLean flick set up Wilson running in from the right but his shot was blocked well by Gow.
