Milestones
A full house, a record crowd and the game live on SKY television - a great night but a disappointing result. Caley Thistle made one change from the Celtic game, Martin Bavidge came in for Richard Hastings as he was in California playing for Canada in the Gold Cup. Caley Thistle dominated the first half but achieved little. After only two minutes the home side had a chance when Mark McCulloch was through but Jim Leighton saved expertly. The closest call in the first half was a Ross Tokely glancing header in 24 minutes which beat Leighton but went just wide. Aberdeen's best was in 35 minutes when Robbie Winters mishit in front of goal. Caley Thistle started well in the second half and Bobby Mann scored in 50 minutes with a powerful header after latching on to a Paul Sheerin corner from the left. This spurred Aberdeen on and Arild Stavrum forced a great save out of Jim Calder in 75 minutes with a close range header. The home side held out for 30 minutes before Cato Guntveit headed an equaliser after a Chris Clark cross from the left. In the end a draw was about right.
