First Team Debuts

Milestones

A good performance and an emphatic win. Injuries continued to give chances to the youngsters and they performed well. Morton also fielded a young team and they had to endure the distraction of 200 supporters demonstrating against chairman Hugh Scott from outside the ground throughout the match. The first half saw chances falling to Wyness, Byers and Xausa but no goals. Caley Thistle took the lead in 52 minutes when keeper Andy Carlin blocked an Andrew Allan 20 yard drive and it bounced up and Dennis Wyness was on hand to nod it into the net. Bobby Mann came close when his header from a David Craig corner was cleared off the line by Stephen Aitken. With six minutes left David Xausa made the points safe when he thundered a shot into the roof of the net from six yards after good set-up play from Barry Wilson down the right. Caley Thistle have now closed the gap on 5th placed Livingston to four points but have played a game more.
