First Team Debuts
Milestones
A dreadful display and a crushing defeat. Davide Xausa blasted over the bar in 28 seconds but it was one way traffic for the rest of the first half. In 7 minutes Gareth Evans did well to find room on the right and his cross was headed in by Niall Thompson. In 20 minutes there was a goalmouth scramble after a corner and a penalty was given and only the referee knows why. Austin McCann scored to make it 2-0. Two minutes later an Allan Moore cross from the right was headed in by Thompson to make it 3-0. Thompson completed his hat trick just before half time. A McCann corner fell to him and he hit it in from close range. The second half started well for the home side and keeper Stephen Wilson tipped away a Barry Wilson angled shot in 50 minutes.
A minute later the keeper missed a David Craig corner from the right and Denis Wyness headed home. In 57 minutes it was
5-1 as Alex Neil and Thompson both chased a lob from midfield and Neil was first and he hit it low past Les Fridge. It was nearly 6-1 in 72 minutes but Fridge saved McCann's penalty after David Hind had brought down Alex Neil.
