REPORT - A good crowd turned out to pay tribute to Alan Hercher but the Inverness side were soundly beaten by St Johnstone. The Perth side had no fit goalkeeper so they borrowed Les Fridge and he was called into action in two minutes when he saved a snap shot from Iain Stewart. In the 10th minute an Ian Ferguson header after a Keith O Halloran cross made it 1-0 and 9 minutes later Ferguson added a second. He fought off Vetle Andersen in the box and slipped the ball through Jim Calders legs. In 24 minutes Ferguson nearly completed his hat trick but was well tackled at the last minute by Iain Macarthur. As the first half drew to a close a low 20 yard shot from Daisy Ross and a 15 yard snap shot from Stewart were both well saved by Fridge. The home side made a lively start to the second half but could not convert the chances created. In 71 minutes it was 3-0 - a glancing Roddy Grant header after a Gary Farquhar corner. Four minutes later a similar header hit the bar. With 3 minutes left a Stewart volley was beaten out by Fridge but Ross bundled it home for a consolation goal.
