Milestones

A vital win for the home side in the relegation battle. Two goals by Mike Teasdale won it after the Warriors had taken the lead. It was not a great game but the Inverness side deserved to win. It was a cold windy day punctuated by dreadful hail showers. In 4 minutes Barry Wilson dispossessed Graeme Armstrong on the right and powered in on goal but he shot wide from an awkward angle. The home side lost a bad goal in 18 minutes. Armstrong took a corner on the right and Ian Little slid in to score from 2 yards. In 29 minutes Paul Sheerin was brought down in the penalty area but Brian Thomson's penalty was saved by Neil Alexander. This spurred the home side on and two minutes later they equalised. A Sheerin corner from the right came to Teasdale 12 yards out and he drove it into the net through a ruck of players. In 37 minutes a Barry Wilson run and deep cross was deflected for a corner. As the half drew to a close Calder dived at the feet of James Fisher and pushed the ball for a corner. The home side pressed well after the break and in 51 minutes Charlie Christie hit it just over the bar from 22 yards. In 61 minutes it was 2-1. A great move by Stewart and Charlie Christie set up Teasdale 10 yards out. Once more he took his chance and drove it home. Two minutes later Stewart had a chance to seal it when he took advantage of a mix up between two defenders and ran in on Alexander but he tried to lob him but the keeper took it easily. The home side should have scored again 2 minutes from time. Duncan Shearer intercepted the ball 15 yards and unselfishly passed to Thomson who was better placed. Thomson's 8 yard shot came off the keeper and the post. In the dying seconds Teasdale was determined to make his hat trick and ran in on a Shearer pass across the face of the goal but his sliding back-heeler went past the post.
