Milestones
Richie Hart played his 50th major competitive game for the Club. |
Caley Thistle felt they should have taken something form this game, they had good possession and looked more likely to score first.
The first half produced little on target but Russell Duncan and Richie Hart forced saves from Allan Ferguson and, at the other end, Andy Lawrie sent a dangerous ball across Mark Brown's goal. Kevin James also headed over the bar following a Craig McPherson free kick from the right.
Half Time 0-0
The home side pushed hard at the start of the second half and Barry Wilson hit just over the bar. Hart then looked to have the chance of the match when he took a David Bingham cross on the six yard line in space but hit wide although the offside flag saved his blushes. Falkirk started to probe the Caley Thistle defence and Brown saved well from Andy Lawrie. It was Lawrie who then gave Falkirk the lead although he knew little about it. Scott MacKenzie chipped from the left over the defence and it hit off Lawrie into the net. Bobby Mann headed a Jason Lee header off the line before the equaliser came in 80 minutes from an unlikely source, the head of Falkirk player/manager John Hughes. Barry Wilson crossed from the left and Hughes headed powerfully past a stunned Allan Ferguson. This could have been the goal of the match but Jason Lee's winner three minutes later took that title. Lawrie turned provider and his cross from the right was met by Lee's diving header which gave Mark Brown no chance. There was no way back and Falkirk took the points.
