Milestones
A dramatic end to an exciting game. Caley Thistle dominated the first half and stormed to a three goal lead in a four minute purple patch. Little came off in the first 29 minutes but a dipping cross from Ross Tokely in 17 minutes forced a tip over the bar from Colin Stewart. Barry Wilson and Richie Hart then shot wide and Roy McBain hit over the bar. On the half hour mark a Wilson corner from the left was headed on to David Bingham at the back post and he volleyed home. A minute later McBain controlled the ball on the left despite going down, played a 1-2 with Bingham then found Steve Hislop in the centre he swept it in for 2-0. Two minutes after that Barry Wilson placed the ball beautifully past Stewart from 25 yards despite the keeper getting a touch. This could have signalled a rout but County kept in it when David Winters took a Stephen ODonnell cross in 37 minutes and sidefooted into the net from six yards. Early in the second half Caley Thistle produced some good moves and could have scored in 54 minutes if someone had taken advantage of Hislops dangerous ball across goal. Stewart saved a close range Bingham shot in 67 minutes then County substitute Steve McGarry just failed to turn in a low ball from the right. County came right back into it when Graham Bayne scored in 70 minutes with a close range header. Caley Thistle could not kill County off despite pushing forward. Paul Ritchie sent a diving header just past in 75 minutes then his long range low ball was held by Stewart. As the clock ticked past 90 minutes the home side tried and failed to keep possession. From just outside the box McGarry chested the ball down then netted a superb volley to rescue a point. For Caley Thistle the draw felt like a defeat.
