Arbroath once more came north to defend and succeeded in keeping a clean sheet until just before half time. Most of the first half was lacklustre � or worse � punctuated by moments of faint hope that the game would come alive. Ross Tokely hit over the bar in the fifth minute but there was little of note until the half hour mark when a Stuart Golabek cross came off a defender for a corner. Paul Ritchie�s flick across goal in 37 minutes caused some danger but the opening finally came in 42 minutes. Barry Robson was brought down 30 yards out and Richie Hart�s curling free kick took a slight deflection off a defender on its way into the net. The identity of the goalscorer was a matter of doubt at the time but Hart deserves all the credit. A minute later Mark Brown finally saw some action as he saved a low shot from Greg Henslee. In 54 minutes Craig Hinchcliffe saved well from a Dennis Wyness shot on the turn then four minutes later he caught a Ritchie flick. In 62 minutes Wyness went down in the box but no penalty was awarded. In 72 minutes a 40 yard free kick from Hart led to a Tokely header and another Hinchcliffe save. Wyness and Ritchie were replaced by Steve Hislop and Liam Keogh for the last 16 minutes and they set up goal number two for Tony Low in added time. They drew three defenders on the left and when Hislop�s pass came to Low he was six yards out in clear space. Hinchcliffe came out but Low sidefooted it into the net to claim his first goal for the club. Certainly not a night to remember for anyone but Tony Low.
