Milestones

It took defender Ross Tokely to break Caley Thistles goal drought but it was not enough to secure a win. County played for the last third of the game with only ten men after Steve Hislop was dismissed but their defence held out well. The first half was memorable for very little. Dennis Wyness shot over in 14 minutes then play switched to the other end and Nicky Walker punched away a Richard Hastings shot it came straight back in but was hit off the line by a defender. Walker pushed over a Steve Ferguson drive in 19 minutes after a Hastings cross was headed away by Grant Munro. The home side conjured up a good move on the half hour mark but it ended with Ross Tokelys overhead effort being deemed a foul. The best shot of the game came from Countys Hastings in 51 minutes his angled drive looked net bound before Walker tipped it over. Hastings provided the opening goal in 55 minutes when he sent in a curling free kick from the left and Hislop headed low into the net. The equaliser came just two minutes later in similar circumstances. Barry Robson took a free kick on the left, it curled goalwards and Tokely was at the back post to score despite Tony Bullock getting a hand to it. Hislop fouled Tokely in 62 minutes then amazingly struck out at the defender after the whistle had blown he was inevitably shown both yellow and red cards. Caley Thistle spent the rest of the game camped in the County half but could manage few shots on target. Four corners in a row ended with a Charlie Christie shot over the bar from 16 yards in 63 minutes. Christie tried again from a similar spot in 72 minutes but this time it flashed wide. With six minutes left substitute Martin Bavidge stretched to reach a David Bagan pass but could only touch it past the post. County had a rare second half chance with a minute left when Ian Maxwell headed weakly at Walker after a Mark Perry free kick. Both sides had once to more to settle for a point each.
