First Team Debuts

Milestones

Substitute Duncan Shearer scored twice for Caley Thistle but it was not enough to secure a win as Stirling equalised 5 minutes into stoppage time to take a point. The high wind caused many problems for both teams and the first half was a tale of missed chances. Stirling keeper Gary Gow was the difference between the teams as he saved his side time after time. In 9 minutes Martin Glancy sent over a low ball from the right but Gow pushed it away. It fell for Barry Wilson but his shot was somehow stopped by Gow. In 17 minutes Gow took the ball off the head of Mike Teasdale as he went for a Paul Sheerin corner. A minute later there was a chance at the other end as Alex Bone ran on to collect a pass from Gavin Price but Les Fridge stepped in first. On the half hour mark Stirling's David McCallum sent in an angled shot which came off the bar. Stirling pressed hard after the break and were rewarded with a goal in 49 minutes. An Andy Paterson free kick from the left was headed past Les Fridge by Bone who had run early ahead of the defence. Caley Thistle did everything but score for the next half hour with a Mark McCulloch shot coming off the underside of the bar on the hour mark and Gow somehow stopping a close range Scott McLean effort in 74 minutes. McLean was immediately replaced by Shearer and only 4 minutes later he equalised with a close range header after a Paul Sheerin cross from the left. Four minutes after that Sheerin again crossed for Shearer's head but this time it went past. In 89 minutes another Sheerin run set up Shearer and he knocked it low past Gow to make it 2-1. The referee played 5 minutes extra time and Caley Thistle had chances through Shearer and Cherry before a shock Stirling equaliser. A corner from the right was headed across goal then pushed onto the bar by Les Fridge. Amidst a ruck of players Alex Bone headed in to give Stirling a valuable point. Disappointment for the home side who now slip to second in the table after Livingston's 2-0 win against Clyde.
