First Team Debuts

Milestones

Clyde won this fast, furious game but Caley Thistle ran them close. Clyde pressed hard from kick-off and in 5 minutes a Carrigan corner led to a goalmouth scramble before Brownlie touched it into the net. Caley Thistle came back into it 5 minutes later when Thomson lobbed the ball home from the edge of the box. The frantic pace continued and in 20 minutes Fridge did well to block a drive from Gibson. A minute later Clyde took the lead after a defensive mix up let in Gibson he slipped it to Brownlie who slotted home. In 23 minutes Scott reacted well to make it 3-1 after an overhead kick into the box surprised everyone. In 39 minutes an Andersen run into the box set up Stewart but with the keeper stranded his 8 yard shot was cleared off the line by Tortolano. A minute into the second half it was 3-2. McLean punched the ball out and Cherry hit it back over the defence and into the net. In 57 minutes a simple move gave Clyde their fourth. A Carrigan cross from the right was hit home at the far post by the unmarked Scott. In 67 minutes Fridge fumbled the ball and it fell to Carrigan who crossed it to Scott his shot was blocked by McCulloch with Fridge stranded. Caley Thistle pulled one back in 71 minutes. An Andersen/Robson run down the left led to a Robson cross which Stewart knocked in from close range. The visitors fought hard to take something from this game. Robson set up Stewart 8 yards out in the 76th minute but he was still limping from an earlier knock and shot over the bar. Clyde survived the last 5 minutes by a succession of clearances high into the stand but they had done enough to earn the 3 points.
