Milestones
An indifferent performance by the home side but they took their chances and deserved to win. ICT took the lead in 22 minutes through Paul Cherry. A Sandy Robertson corner was touched along the line by Iain Stewart from the back post and Cherry knocked it in. In 26 yards the Fifers had a chance when a Gilbert Allan cross reached Kenneth Gillies but he headed well wide. In 31 minutes a Paul Ronald run into the box was foiled by a good tackle from Mark McCulloch. 3 minutes later a defensive mix up gave Allan a shot at an open goal but his angled 12 yard effort went past. 6 minutes from half time the Fifers had another chance when a 20 yard Mark Abercromby shot was deflected onto the post with Jim Calder beaten. A minute later Barry Robson made it 2-0. A quick Sandy Robertson free kick found Robson on the edge of the box he ran on and hit it through the legs of William McCulloch. In 61 minutes Kenneth Gillies beat the defence and ran in on goal but Calder blocked well. In 65 minutes a through ball from Robertson was chased by Stewart but the keeper just beat him. It rebounded to Mike Teasdale 30 yards out and he calmly slid it into the open goal to make it 3-0. Five minutes from time a Richard Hastings long ball found Barry Wilson clear just inside the East Fife half. He sprinted towards goal, rounded the keeper and hit it in for 4-0. The Fifers Innes Ritchie was sent off for a second bookable offence.
