Back to league business after the excitement of the cup. The match was played at a furious pace with the home side making the early running. Against the run of play they lost 2 bad goals in the 16th and 22nd minutes. The first came after Calder pushed out a Grant McMartin cross but Steve Raynes hit it home from the edge of the box. The second was also set up by McMartin a cross which eventually fell to Graham Harvey who headed home at the near post. Caley Thistle were rewarded in 37 minutes when a short Brian Thomson free kick on the edge of the area was volleyed home by Duncan Shearer. With a minute of the half left Mark McCulloch ran down the right, passed to Sandy Robertson, collected the return back-heeler and volleyed past McCaldon from a difficult angle. The wind blew up in the second half and Caley Thistle faced it and driving rain. Thomson had a chance in 54 minutes when he ran clear but hit it past the post and in 61 minutes Shearer set up Robertson but his shot was deflected for a corner. Livingston had a chance in 67 minutes when Graham Watson brought out a good save from Jim Calder with a 15 yard shot. Despite intense second half pressure Caley Thistle had to be content with a point.
