Milestones
Caley Thistle's first ever win at Station Park opened up a 5 point gap over second-bottom Clyde. Scott McLean started his first game for a year and he went close in 16 minutes when he swivelled in the box and fired a shot inches past the post. Three minutes later McLean took an accurate pass from Ross Tokely and cut it back for Paul Sheerin to shoot home from 10 yards. Four minutes later Brian Thomson split the Forfar defence and set up Sheerin who fired home a second. Caley Thistle keeper Jim Calder, back from suspension, then had to be sharp to block a McLaughlin shot with his feet. At the other end Robertson did well to palm away a McLean drive. In 73 minutes Forfar substitute Paul Roberts failed to take advantage of an uncharacteristic Calder error. Two minutes later a goal mouth scramble led to Paul Cherry using a hand to stop a goalbound Ben Honeyman shot and an inevitable red card. Honeyman's resultant penalty was hit just beyond the diving Calder and into the net off the post. Caley Thistle held on for an excellent victory.
