Milestones
After a pedestrian first half Caley Thistle scored twice in the second and deserved their victory.
In the 28th minute Ally Mitchell came close for Brechin when he shot marginally wide from 25 yards. At the other end a surging Roy McBain run past three defenders ended with the midfielder going down in the box as the half-time whistle loomed but nothing was given.
Half Time: 0-0
McBain broke the deadlock on the hour mark with his first goal of the season. It was a terrific solo effort as he ran down the right, cut inside and hit it past Derek Soutar from just inside the box. Charlie King shot into the side netting for Brechin then Soutar turned a drive from Richie Hart round the post with fifteen minutes left. In 77 minutes Barry Wilson crossed from the right and Paul Ritchie flicked it past Soutar from six yards to make it 2-0. Wilson had a chance to make it three but he hit wide from 18 yards. Brechin's final effort was a spectacular overhead kick from Steven Hampshire but it was comfortably held by Mark Brown.
Full Time: 0-2
Caley Thistle now move to a four way tie at the top of the league but are third on goal difference.
