Milestones
Caley Thistle slumped to the foot of Division One after this disappointing result. They should have gone ahead after 90 seconds when Barry Robson floated a cross to Dennis Wyness the striker looked odds on to head home but Garry Gow made a fine save. Paul Ritchie scorned a good chance when he was one-on-one with the keeper 18 yards out but he rolled it well wide. Partick began to dominate and Britton went close with a first time shot that was deflected past by Jim Calder before the home side took the lead in 35 minutes. Martin Hardie released Britton and he rolled the ball to Derek Fleming who scored from 8 yards. Caley Thistle tried to take the game to Partick in the second half but the home side regained control. They had an early chance when James McKinstry picked out Mark Nicholls with a precision cross but his header drifted wide. Former Caley Thistle favourite Scott McLean came on for Partick and almost immediately shot past the post. The visitors created little of note but a Bobby Mann free kick in 73 minutes gave them some hope - it looped disappointingly over the bar. They nearly took a point in the closing minutes when Wyness took a chip from Charlie Christie but he headed past from 12 yards.
