An important win and a climb back to fourth. The points should have been wrapped up by half time but a missed penalty and bad marking at a corner allowed Falkirk back into the game. Falkirks Lee Miller mishit in the box in just four minutes then Myles Hogarth had to rush out of his area to kick away ahead of Paul Ritchie. Ritchie headed just over in 11 minutes after latching onto a Charlie Christie curling free kick from wide left. Christie repeated the move two minutes later and this time Grant Munro scored his first senior goal with a glancing header. In 23 minutes Steven Craig shot at goal, Nicky Walker managed to get a hand to it but it ran free as the ball stopped a yard out Stuart McCaffrey hooked it away but injured his hand in the process. In 27 minutes Ritchie rounded a defender on the edge of the box but his shot was deflected for a corner. Barry Robsons kick from the right was blatantly handled by Garry McStay but Ritchie hit the resultant penalty low and past Myles Hogarths right hand post. Hogarth had to race out of goal in 40 minutes to head away with Christie chasing a through ball from Bobby Mann. With the first half coming to a close Mann headed a Lee Mair dangerous ball for a corner. McStay took the kick and Kenneth Deuchar ran into the box late to head home. The second half was scrappy for a long while and Falkirk nearly took the lead on the hour mark when a Miller header was hit off the line by Roy McBain. In 67 minutes Walker made a point blank save from Miller then Hogarth was hurt as he dived to collect the ball ahead of Ritchie. Two minutes later it was 2-1 when Martin Bavidge crossed low from the right, Ian Morris kicked fresh air and Dennis Wyness took full advantage to sweep it in from six yards. His second just four minutes later was a classic. Robson took a free kick on the right and hit it cross field to Wyness on the left of the Falkirk box. Wyness rounded Lee Mair then hit a slightly-deflected shot from wide left to the opposite corner of the net past the diving Hogarth. This was Wynesss 50th competitive goal for Caley Thistle and his 19th of the season. It looked all over but Falkirk soon hit back. In 76 minutes substitute Ricky Waddell hit a lob past Walker with a deflection off Stuart McCaffrey helping to deceive the keeper. In 81 minutes a great David Bagan run and a 1-2 with Wyness gave him a chance his shot went close to the top corner but it shaved the post. A minute later Robson was one on one with Hogarth after a run from the left but he hit it low and past. Falkirk had a few chances close to the end but the defence held out for a welcome three points.
