Milestones

Not a game to remember but a well deserved victory. It took until the 27th minute before the fans had anything to shout about, a Bobby Mann free kick from 22 yards seemed in but had crept past. Ten minutes later David Bagan sent a good ball across goal but Paul Sheerin could not quite stretch to take advantage of an open goal. The opener came in bizarre circumstances in the 52nd minute. Alloa defender Steven Thomson attempted to head back to Guido Van De Kamp but the keeper was on his way out of goal and the two collided and Dennis Wyness helped it on its way into the empty goal. Alloa sent on all their substitutes in 61 minutes and this gave them a boost. In 68 minutes Jim Calder made his first save of the match from an angled Willie Irvine shot.
Other than this effort it was one way traffic and Van De Kamp made a superb save from Kevin Byers in 78 minutes. Alloa played the last 5 minutes with 10 men after Mark Wilson injured his arm and all subs had been used. With four minutes left Barry Robson made it 2-0 after a good run down the left, he beat two defenders, cut inside, dithered for a moment then stabbed the ball just inside the post. A minute later Martin Bavidge should have made it three when he closed in on goal but Van De Kamp came out to save. Caley Thistle have now managed 11 league games without defeat.
