Milestones
Two Dennis Wyness second half goals ended the Raith hoodoo and extended Caley Thistle's run to 12 league games without defeat. It also put them to 3rd in the league. Little happened in the first half with Caley Thistle on top and Raith playing a defensive game. In 27 minutes Martin Bavidge turned and shot from close range but Samuel Monin palmed it away. Three minutes later Jim Calder blocked a Mark Jones effort. In 34 minutes Monin saved a Bavidge header at full stretch. The second half was much livelier and David Bagan tested Monin in 50 minutes with a 30 yard lob which the keeper just reached. Calder brought some light relief and set hearts fluttering - in 53 minutes with a dribble some 10 yards out of his area. The first goal came seconds later. A short Paul Sheerin corner on the right was passed back to him by Bagan and he sent over a dangerous cross. Bobby Mann headed it goalwards and Monin saved - it only went as far as Wyness who turned it in from a difficult angle. Bavidge was one-on-one with Monin in 61 minutes but he hesitated and the keeper smothered it. With 10 minutes left Bavidge made an angled run from the right towards the area then crossed for Wyness to head in and make it 2-0. Kevin Byers blasted over in 83 minutes and, with three minutes left, Raith's Paul Hampshire received a second yellow card and was off.
