First Team Debuts

Milestones
Neil MacDonald scored his first goal for the Club.

With little to play for Steve Paterson brought in fringe players but still took all three points. This included a classic goal from teenager Neil MacDonald making only his second appearance. The revamped Caley Thistle side took a long time to settle into any rhythm and did not seal the match until the last 15 minutes. Morton keeper Andy Carlin had a traumatic match but he did manage to push aside an early 18 yard drive from Martin Bavidge. The opening came in 17 minutes when Carlin fumbled a Barry Robson corner and Charlie Christie was on hand to head in. The keeper reacted badly to the home fans barracking and was replaced at half time by Stuart Webster. There was little excitement for a long period after that but in 77 minutes Dennis Wyness scored his 23rd goal of the season. He looked offside when he took a Bobby Mann pass 25 yards out but the flag stayed down and he ran into the box before firing home from 12 yards. The third goal came in spectacular style after a clever move. A pass from Stuart Golabek was dummied by Christie and this allowed David Bagan to set Barry Robson on a run. Robson sent over a cross from wide left and substitute Neil MacDonald volleyed it first time into the net from the edge of the goal area.
Not a classic match but points well earned and a move back to third place in the league.
