Milestones

It was never going to be an easy game. A cup hangover, four regular players missing and top of the League opposition. Mark Yardley gave St Mirren the lead in 23 minutes after a Steven McGarry shot had been blocked and he shot home from seven yards. Jim Calder denied Yardley a minute later and Stuart Golabek cleared off the line from Gary Bowman. Bowman made it 2-0 in 68 minutes from close range after a Paul Rudden corner. Caley Thistle looked jaded and created little. Martin Bavidge had a chance just after the restart but Saints were well on top. Late on a Tommy Turner rocket was parried by Calder and a header from Bowman was cleared off the line.
