Milestones
A convincing win against a stubborn Alloa side. A strong start by Caley Thistle created several chances and in the first minute Martin Glancy hit the ball past the post. Barry Wilson was foiled by Mark Cairns on the 18 yard line then the Alloa keeper cut out a Ross Tokely cross ahead of Charlie Christie. Despite this Alloa took the lead in 7 minutes when Gregor McKechnie latched onto Martin Cameron's pass and beat Les Fridge from 9 yards. Duncan Shearer equalised 7 minutes later after good work on the right by Barry Wilson and a fine cross. The game continued to be lively and Bobby Mann swept clear a Willie Irvine shot on the six yard line. At the other end a Wilson effort was turned for a corner by Paul McAneny then Duffy knocked a Glancy shot off the line. The second half was dominated by Caley Thistle. In 63 minutes Shearer headed home a Wilson cross to make it 2-1. They continued to press hard and the game was sewn up in 81 minutes when Wilson set off on a long run and finished clinically from 22 yards for 3-1. With 2 minutes left Charlie Christie completed the agony when he picked up the ball on the edge of the area, drew Cairns from his goal then lobbed him from 7 yards.
