First Team Debuts

Milestones

The injury-hit visitors were unlucky not to win this four goal thriller. They were thwarted in 15 minutes when a Charlie Christie volley beat Garden but was brilliantly headed off the line by Harry Cairney.

The home side went ahead in 26 minutes with a Bobby Brown back-post header after a Steve Campbell free kick. Just before the break Iain Stewart had two chances but he shot wide and just chipped over the bar. Seven minutes after the break it was 1-1. A Christie pass to Iain Stewart was laid off to Brian Thomson who hammered it into the bottom corner.

Brechin hit back 40 seconds later when midfielder Ian Heddle curled a 20 yard drive past Les Fridge. The Inverness side plugged away and were rewarded in 77 minutes with a well deserved equaliser. A defensive error by Gregg Smith allowed Stewart to nip in and knock the ball into the top corner of the net. The visitors pressed for a winner but had to settle for a draw
