Milestones
Stranraer came into this game with six wins in a row and deservedly made it seven. The visitors started well and were rewarded in 14 minutes with a goal. Iain Stewart pounced on a short Dougie Johnstone header back to his keeper and skilfully slotted the ball home. He tried the same in 21 minutes when a Paul Watson pass-back was a little short but Gary Matthews came out to clear. In 35 minutes Brian Thomson intercepted a short pass back but his shot was deflected. A minute later Stranraer's Paul McIntyre was through on Jim Calder but shot over the bar as the keeper came rushing out. The second half belonged to the home side. They looked to have equalised in 52 minutes when McIntyre headed to the top corner but at the last second Calder reached it and tipped it away, arguably the save of the season. Calder again came to the rescue in 56 minutes when he dived at the feet of Ian McAulay. In 61 minutes Gordon Young ran down the right, crossed it to Duncan George who headed it in for 1-1. 3 minutes later a Tom Black free kick from the left was met by Young's head and it was 2-1. An identical free kick in 72 minutes was again met by Young but his header came off the bar and Mark Campbell was following up and he headed home. Caley Thistle's relegation rivals Stenhousemuir and Clyde drew but with 3 games left they are not yet free of relegation worries.
