Milestones

Welcome revenge for the 5-1 defeat in Inverness 11 days ago. County started strongly and in only three minutes Mark Brown had to be alert to touch away a deflected shot from Hugh Robertson. Two minutes later Tony Bullock saved a low free kick from Richie Hart. In 19 minutes Brown took a Robertson ball high then was bundled into the net by Brian Irvine. Six minutes later a Ross Tokely header looked in but was cleared off the line by the knee of Kenny Gilbert. Bullock continued a fine performance with a save from Hart in 32 minutes and two minutes later he blocked at the feet of Paul Ritchie. Don Cowie then shot wide at the other end and a Robertson shot from the left deflected past off Steve McGarry. The fast and furious first half ended with Jordan Tait firing past the Caley Thistle goal from a good position eight yards out. In 51 minutes Brown saved the day with a block at the feet of Cowie after a good County move down the left. Caley Thistle started to take control and Bullock tipped away a corner from Barry Robson in 54 minutes. The crucial opening goal came on the hour when Brian Irvine brought Robson down 25 yards out. Hart took the free kick and blasted it into the top corner for 1-0. Five minutes later Hart robbed Sean Webb 25 yards out then struck a low ball which looked on target but came off the post. In 69 minutes Bullock produced the save of the match to push away a goal-bound overhead kick from Grant Munro. County were now well out of it and Robson secured the points three minutes from time. Substitute Steve Hislop fought to find space in the box and it broke to Robson who hit low past Bullock from 15 yards. With all title contenders winning Caley Thistle remain third.
