First Team Debuts

Milestones

Caley Thistle were unlucky not to take all 3 points. Forfar were difficult opponents but the home side fought well and created many chances. Paul Cherry made it 1-0 in the 11th minute with a header which deflected off a defender after a Barry Wilson corner. Against the run of play Forfar equalised in the 23rd minute. An Andy Cargill free kick 25 yards out on the right was headed in by Bobby Mann Jim Calder got a hand to it but it trickled over the line. Cargill made it 2-1 in the 37th minute. He ran into the box and his angled shot went under Calders body. 4 minutes into the second half Forfars Graeme McCheyne headed just past but twisted as he fell and was carried off. The second half belonged to Caley Thistle but Forfar went into defensive mode and chances were rare. In the 55th minute a Sandy Robertson free kick came back off the wall and his follow up was well saved. In the 72nd minute a Mike Teasdale angled volley from the edge of the box was saved by the keeper. 5 minutes later Donegan took the ball off Brian Thomsons feet on the 6 yard line. Seconds later the home side gained a well deserved equaliser. A Robertson free kick was headed home at the far post by Cherry. From the restart there was a fright at the other end when Mark McCulloch had to clear off the line. With 4 minutes left Duncan Shearer was brought down in the box but Iain Stewarts penalty was well saved by Donegan. With a minute left a great chance fell to Teasdale. He stormed into the Forfar box and hit an angled volley which bent and glanced off the far post.
