Caley Thistle lost their place as Division 2 leaders with this defeat. Livingston dominated the first half and could have scored more. Bingham had a chance in 4 minutes but he mishit. In 7 minutes a McLean move down the left set up Sheerin but his shot was blocked. At the other end a great Cherry tackle denied John Robertson a scoring opportunity. In 33 minutes Cherry tackled Robertson in the box and he went down. A penalty was awarded but Calder stopped Bingham's low effort with a diving save to his right. A minute later Livingston took the lead. Robertson rounded Tokely before running on and scoring with a low shot from 12 yards. Caley Thistle tried to hit on the break several times and were disappointed not to get a penalty in 40 minutes when a Charlie Christie cross seemed to be handled by a defender. It was all so different in the second half as a rejuvenated Caley Thistle team piled on the pressure. From the kick-off Christie set up Addicoat but the return pass just eluded Christie. In 48 minutes a Mike Teasdale pass out of defence to Scott McLean gave the striker a chance but his shot was blocked. In 53 minutes a Cherry header just slipped past. On the hour McCulloch sent in a cross for McLean but his glancing header missed the target. A minute later the visitors had their best chance of the half. Addicoat shook off McManus and sent a low ball across goal as McLean slid in to meet it but just failed. In 76 minutes Livingston scored on a rare break. The defence failed to clear a Bingham shot and it fell to McPhee. He hit it low into the net through a ruck of players. With 3 minutes left McLean scored a consolation goal. Christie flicked the ball onto him and he scored with a low shot from 6 yards to make it 2-1. Caley Thistle were disappointed to take nothing from the game.
