Milestones
Caley Thistle came back to down to earth after last Saturday's efforts as they lost to relegation-threatened Arbroath. Paul Cherry's 99th appearance for the club lasted only 3 minutes as he was sent off in the 63rd minute for taking a kick at Colin McGlashan. This did not help matters but a bad second half performance was the main reason for the defeat. Caley Thistle started brightly with Scott Mclean hitting the woodwork in 15 minutes and Duncan Shearer nearly catching out Craig Wight with a lob. Arbroath had a great chance when John Gallagher set up Colin McGlashan but he hit it straight at Jim Calder. Three minutes before the interval McLean took a pass from Barry Wilson and slotted it under Wight to give the visitors the lead. The second half belonged to Arbroath and in 54 minutes McGlashan took a Barry Sellars cross and volleyed it past Calder. Caley Thistle sent on 3 substitutes on the hour mark but the Cherry incident soon had Steve Paterson regretting this decision. Despite the numerical disadvantage the visitors did create one great chance but Mark McCulloch miscued his shot. 16 minutes from time Mark McWalter headed the ball back across the line and McGlashan bundled it in for 2-0. With a minute left Kevin Tindall sealed it with a magnificent 25 yard shot which zipped past Calder. With 8 games left Caley Thistle's lead over Clyde is now 11 points.
