First Team Debuts

Milestones
Hugh Robertson scored his first goal for the Club.

A tight win for ICT on a very windy night. On their first half performance the win was well deserved but many chances were missed and Alloa came back into the game. Six minutes into the match a Paul Sheerin free kick from the left found Scott McLean at the far post but he shot over the bar. In 16 minutes Alloa keeper Mark Cairns dived to save a low Hugh Robertson shot from 20 yards. A minute later Barry Wilson was brought down in the box by Raymond Sharp but play was waved on. In 18 minutes Robertson had another effort when he ran onto a Charlie Christie pass but his low shot went past. His reward came in 27 minutes when another low shot, this time from 25 yards, was deflected into the net by Mark Cowan, arguably an own goal but Robertson's strong strike deserves the credit. In 34 minutes a Willie Irvine free kick from the left was lost by the defence in the glare of the floodlights and Cowan nipped in to head the equaliser. ICT charged upfield and in 39 minutes a superb Scott McLean blast came off the post. The half time score of 1-1 flattered Alloa. Nine minutes after the restart Alloa took the lead when Martin Cameron beat 2 men in the box and hit it past Jim Calder from 8 yards. Alloa were spurred on for the next period but in 65 minutes Mark McCulloch made it 2-2. The ball came out to him after a scramble in the box and he cracked home a superb rising volley. After this the best chances were created by Caley Thistle but nothing came off until a minute from time. Barry Robson took a corner on the left, Duncan Shearer headed it on and McLean poked it home - a fair reward for his strong play. At the halfway stage Caley Thistle lie second in Division 2, 5 points behind Livingston and 8 ahead of third placed Clyde.
