Milestones
This was 2-1 going on 6-1. The home strikers missed chances and allowed Queens back into the game but over the 90 minutes Queens contributed little of note. The first half was all Caley Jags and they had chances from the second minute when Mathieson saved from Stewart. Sandy Robertson had an excellent first game and he had three shooting chances in the first 13 minutes. Inverness took the lead in 18 minutes when Stewart headed a Wilson cross in at the back post. Two minutes later Queens keeper Mathieson was lucky to escape with a yellow card when he brought down Shearer just outside the box. Queens had a chance just after half time but an excellent last gasp Hastings tackle thwarted Bryce. In 61 minutes Shearer was one-on-one with Mathieson but he passed it to Robson who was just offside. In 66 minutes Calder had his only real save of the game when he dived well to collect a Weir shot. Straight away Stewart had a chance at the other end he rounded the keeper but his angled shot was stopped on the line by a defender. In 69 minutes Wilson set up Stewart who once more only had Mathieson to beat. From 6 yards he hit it past. A minute later Robertson was tripped in the box and Stewart made it 2-0 from the penalty spot. In 75 minutes Queens were very fortunate to pull one back. The defence failed to clear a Bryce corner and McKeown scored from 10 yards through a ruck of players. In 83 minutes it could have been 2-2 but McCulloch headed off the line. Four minutes from time Stewart set up Wilson but his shot was touched onto the post and ran along the line. Caley Jags are still bottom of the Second Division but it is very tight.
