Milestones
This convincing victory put Caley Thistle to the top of Division 2 but it was only in the last 10 minutes that the 3 points were secure. East Fife started well and Jim Calder made a blocking save from John McNeil. In 16 minutes Duncan Shearer set up Paul Sheerin but he shot wide. The home sides John Cusick was amazingly allowed to stay on the field after palming a Sheerin cross off the head of Mike Teasdale in the box. Sheerin scored from the penalty. In 37 minutes it was 2-0 when Barry Wilson sent in a corner and Shearer headed in at the back post. Just before half-time Shearer hit the post with McCulloch beaten. Cherry and Sheerin both came close after the interval before Christie was sent off for a second bookable offence. In 76 minutes the Fifers McNeil sent in a drive which came off Calder's leg and fell perfectly for Philip Gartshore to nod home. Any hopes the home side had of a revival were ended in 81 minutes when Cherry scored number 3 with a header. Two minutes later Wilson ran onto a Mark McCulloch pass and shot towards goal - the keeper could only help it on its way and Martin Bavidge hit it over the line to make sure. On the final whistle a Richard Hastings cross was side footed into the net by Mike Teasdale for number 5.
