Caley Thistle gifted the points to Brechin and Steve Patersonís first win must wait for another day. The home side dominated this game for an hour but mainly lost as a result of goalkeeping blunders. In 41 minutes they took the lead when Iain Stewart stroked home a low pass from Davie Ross who had controlled the ball well on the right. In 54 minutes Ross sent a fierce drive over the bar and in 61 minutes Norman MacMillan headed wide when scoring seemed easier. The visitors levelled in 66 minutes - Mark McRitchie missed a long clearance from Brechin 'keeper Ray Allan and Ray Smith tapped the ball home. Two minutes later Caley Thistle were again punished when a weak header from Sandy Ross slipped through McRitchie's hands. It was nearly three in 82 minutes but Dave Brennan cleared off the line.
