First Team Debuts

Milestones

The Champions lost their third game in a row with a side containing many personnel and positional changes.

Graeme Bennett captained the team in his last competitive game for the club and he had to look lively in the 6th minute to clear off the line. The only goal came in the 14th minute when Paul Simpson headed on a Willie Irvine corner and David Pew headed home.

The visitors fought back and in 38 Iain Stewart glanced a Barry Wilson free kick past the post. In 43 a Barry Wilson looping header went just over. Two minutes later a Barry Wilson corner nearly went in and the rebound fell to Paul Cherry whose header was saved.

In 72 Iain Stewart hooked the ball over the bar and in 83 Jim Calder tipped over a chip from Jimmy Gilmour.

Alloa held on to take their first points this season from the visitors. Elsewhere Forfar clinched the second promotion place with a 4-0 win over Queens Park - Ross County lost out on goal difference.
