The Inverness side gained 3 valuable points but it was a below average performance. The first goal came in 30 minutes - a header by Brian Thomson after a cross from Richard Hastings. In the second half Alloa moved the ball about well but could not break down the visitors defence. Alloas best chance came in 79 minutes when Rixon crashed the ball off the bar. Alloa could have snatched an equaliser but their chances diminished in 85 minutes when Whyte was ordered off for elbowing Calder. The game was over three minutes later when Christie took a Teasdale pass, rounded Balfour and slotted the ball home.
