The first half was very even and the result could have gone the other way if Arbroath had taken their chances.
Caley Thistles best chance fell in 7 minutes to Scott but he hit it just wide. Inverness took control in the second half and had several chances. In 72 minutes Ross sent over a great ball from the left and Stewart hit it home from 10 yards. In 84 minutes it was 2-0 when Scott lobbed the ball over the advancing Dunn. In the dying seconds Arbroaths Elliot sent in a weak shot but it deflected off Mike Noble to give the home side a consolation goal.
